Horses can be purchased, or in some instances stolen, from stables and rode around as a form of transportation. I had no further problems with using fast travel, and Whiterun was restored to its antebellum self, albeit with some Imperial-related dialogue. After Whiterun was out of sight, fast travel became available again. In Dragonborn, a ferry is used for travel between the port of Windhelm on the mainland and Raven Rock on the isle of Solstheim. I took Crusaders advice and rode Shadowmere a ways south. At the time I did not know how random encounters worked and walked to each of my destinations. I remember how immersive the game was when I was first starting out since I had no locations explored. The price is 50 Septims for each trip and 500 Septims for transportation to an island near the High Rock border. Fast travel certainly has its positives such as if a destination is all the way across Skyrim or if your inventory is almost full. In Dawnguard, the option to pay a ferryman for transportation to the coastal cities of Solitude, Dawnstar and Windhelm was introduced.

These carriage drivers do not charge for transport and can take the Dragonborn to numerous places that the city carriage drivers will not.
#NO FAST TRAVEL SKYRIM DRIVER#
In Hearthfire, the Dragonborn can have their steward hire a carriage driver for the Dragonborn's homestead. The problem with Skyrim's fast travel system is that the player will sometimes skip over random events that happen while journeying, even to already-visited locations. For example, a carriage outside of a major city may transport the Dragonborn from that city, to a city they have never been before. If you are a die-hard role-player, you may find the quest markers and fast travel in Skyrim to be overly helpful. Unmarked locations and undiscovered locations cannot be fast traveled to.Ī third option includes the ability to pay a carriage driver to transport the Dragonborn to inaccessible or burdensome places to travel. Fast travel is the ability the game gives you to instantly travel from one location on the map to another location that you have discovered.
If you fast travel to a city, then an owned horse you are riding will move to the stables outside the city an unowned horse will return to its starting. They are somewhat slower than horses in Cyrodiil but are better at combat and have more endurance. The Dragonborn, optionally, can use the Fast Travel option to move between discovered locations quickly. Horses are available as mounts in Skyrim, and improve your movement speed. Lite- no MCM, fast travel can be toggled using a global variable SimplyNoFastTravelFastTravelEnabled. Certain controls can be used to toggle between walking, running, and sprinting. That way, you can avoid using the Fast Travel system pretty much 100 of the time, but still have a way to get somewhere quickly if you so choose while staying somewhat immersed. The simplest mode of transportation includes walking, which is performed in real time.
